Facebook Teams up with MTV

Facebook is the world's largest social media outlet, encouraging you to share as much information as you can. Ironically,  the company itself is one of the most private companies on the Earth.  MTV's aired a  behind-the-scenes micro-documentary, "The Diary of Facebook" on march 30th.  Mark Zuckerberg, himself, appears in the prologue and really explains the culture set up.

This is a great PR opportunity for Facebook! This was the first step, for facebook's company to be on camera. Will Facebook allow more publicity interaction and open-up to "share" with the world? {if there was a "LIKE" button, I'd hit it}

I normally don't watch MTV much anymore, but when I heard they were shutting a documentary about facebook, the company, i wanted to see what it was all about. I saw the documentary and really liked it. I feel like facebook has so many diverse workers and different specialty jobs within the company. The facebook culture is so different from the normal corporate world. They host hackathons to help employees be innovative and create new ideas and applications with facebook.
I love how Facebook has created jobs and opportunities. I think working there would be an experience of a lifetime!

Here is the trailer - a sneak peak- to the show if you want to see it.

If you saw the show what did you think? would you want to work there?

  1. Good point! Facebook is one of those companies that I definitely want to know more about but there just isn't much information to be found. I would love to visit or work there for sure! I didn't see the show but I'm glad you blogged about this because I definitely think Facebook should be more transparent and open to sharing their culture!

  2. I don't watch much of MTV anymore but I think I would enjoy watching the episode. It is very interesting how Facebook was created and runs. I think it would be a very fun and excited job to be a part of something that is growing every day. I have noticed that Facebook is private in their culture but I think it’s a good thing because you keep users guessing on what is coming next.

  3. Facebook teaming up with Mtv is an excellant idea, because they are both reaching a large target market to date. Mtv is the generation Y of television and Facebook is an epidemic so far in social media. The documentery was fun to watch and interesting when I saw it too!

  4. I would love to see this documentary! I think a documentary seems like a good idea because the actual Facebook movie tells you how it was created, but it doesn't really go into depth on how it works. Like Kasey said, Facebook does keeps users guessing, though it annoys me at times because of how things will just instantly change.
