The Social Network --The Movie--

Here is the link to the trailer of the movie.

I'm going to attempt to give a brief synopism of the movie, that won't give it away (or ruin it) for anyoen that hasn't seen the movie.
This movie is about the story of Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of Facebook. The movie takes us back to the beginning-back to even the idea generation. Mark is the computer genius that has the ability to create the programing that makes facebook happen. Mark stuns administrator's and captures the attention of thousands. "Within half an hour after that, the site is so popular, it takes down the entire Harvard computer network." That is when the realization hits Mark and his friend (monetary supportor for the site).

This movie is about innovation, greed, and obsessions. There are many key characters in the movie that have different view points. You have Mark: the creator, Eduardo: the business backbone and financial stability for the company, the twins: claimed that mark stole the idea for them, and Sean Parker; the co-founder of napster in the late 90's. I personnally find that each of theese characters make compelling arguements.
Im curious: If you have seen the movie, which character's view point do you agree with? Did you like the movie?

This movie is absolutely brilliant!! I feel that it is essential for users (especially in today's world that practically is revolving around social media) to understand where a product that generates this much buzz comes from. especailly if your utilizing facebook, you should want to know how it orginated and background story. I highly recommed this movie to anyone! it's a must see!!

  2. I joined Facebook my junior year of high school after it was open to non-college students. I loved this movie! It was cool to see the creation of Facebook from the beginning. They portrayed Mark as being conniving and stealing the idea from his peers but I wonder how much Hollywood stretched the truth. Facebook is such a phenomenon and it amazes me how quickly it caught on.

  3. I saw this movie and I thought it was ok. I've always been intrigued on how Facebook was created since our world pretty much revolves around it. It was interesting where the idea stemmed from and how it developed into what it is today. I never knew all the dark secrets behind it between friendships and what not. Though I guess with money on the line, things aren't always going to go well. The only downfall for me was that I did get a little bored watching it. But overall, I thought it was informative and interesting.

  4. I saw the movie in the theater and I loved it! My bias changed throughout the duration of the movie. In the end, I felt as though the concept for Facebook could be credited to Mark. However, I also felt that Mark's attitude toward the twins and Eduardo coupled with his unacceptable behaviors toward them, left the twins and Eduardo entitled to a claim on Facebook. Mark did not handle the entire situation properly and I am not surprised that it ended in a nasty lawsuit. I remember first hearing about Facebook in high school and how it was restricted to college students, but by the time I tried to join in 2006 it was open to everyone. Facebook is such an intriguing social network and it has an even more intriguing story.
Hope I didn't spoil the movie for anyone!

  5. I saw the movie and absolutely loved it. I think it showed how easy a social network can be accessed and spread around the world. I loved the attitude Mark had in the film and I think the rights were handed to the correct person. It also showed the ups and downs of the network and how it became to be a large part of our society today. Everyone that had a facebook or heard of it should watch the film to understand the background and aspects it took to create.
